VICE-PRESIDENT welfare

Salary: £1,000

Hours: Part-Time

Who can apply?: Any current continuing student

Outline of the role:

  • Plan and execute campaigns relating to student welfare, leading on this work in collaboration with the President and wider Executive Committee, including work with Student Service

  • Establish, maintain contact, and provide information from groups and organisations which work on welfare issues

  • Attend the College’s Learning, Teaching and Enhancement Committee (LTEC) (termly) and Welfare Committee (monthly)

  • Ensure further student representation at the Welfare Committee

  • Work alongside the President and Student Voice Officer for any Course revalidations taking place during the Academic Year

In addition to the specific responsibilities, each Vice President will also:

  • Be responsible for the coordination of the welfare, rights, campaigns, and advice services of the Union

  • Supply information, but shall not attempt to counsel students who have welfare problems, respecting confidentiality always

  • Be concerned with students’ safety inside and outside of the College

  • Develop and maintain a system for the election, training, and the induction of Course Board Representatives/Student Council Members, in collaboration with the Student Voice Officer

  • In the absence of the President, represent the Union on College committees

  • Attend conferences and training events relevant to the post as required

  • Develop and maintain a Union communication strategy, through existing social media and website channels

  • Ensure that all relevant information is published on the appropriate forum
